December Meeting:

At our December meeting, we will have some holiday entertainment provided by Lilly Beth Frentz who will share music and holiday muses. We will also receive a report from the Club 100 Visiting Nurse program staff. Again, this would be a good opportunity to bring a guest to our meeting. Think about all of those people who came to our Global Event and try to invite some of them to our December meeting. Be sure to let Dorothy know if you have guests coming..

Global Event

Congratulations! We put together a wonderful event this year. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this so successful. At first accounting, it looks like we will net approximately $6500 this year versus only $3,600 last year. Again, thanks for all your hard work.

Poinsettias.

Thank you to the women who staffed the bank on Friday to sell poinsettias. Nicely done! Since we’re still selling poinsettias, we don’t have a count yet, but I’ll bet Carole will have an update for us at our meeting.

Gifts for Club 100

Remember that we agreed to bring items to put together gift baskets for the families served by Club 100, our service recipient. We are to bring fruit, candy and nuts to include in the baskets. Judy is picking up other items to include

It’s a Girl

I received an e-mail this morning from Jennifer announcing the birth of a baby girl on Wednesday, December 3rd.

Jennifer says, “Our baby girl, Lilly Farrar Rynbrandt, was born on Wednesday, December 3rd at 5:30 am. She's a little thing, weighing about six and a half pounds.

I tried to send out an email on Friday with a picture or two, and i guess the files were too big and froze my email program for a bit. Jeff is making a website with some digital photos on it. Should be up by mid-week. Lilly looks like a Q-Tip with her white-blonde hair.
Very cute.

I hope you all are well. Please keep us in your prayers as we haven't had any sleep in several days/nights! This baby is adorable, and very fiesty! We can't believe how much we love her already...we've only had her for five days!

New York, New York 100

It’s not too soon to be thinking about traveling to New York for the Zonta International Convention. It will be held July 3-8, 2004. We are already beginning to receive information about a marketplace at the Convention. We might want to think about having something there depending upon how many women are planning to attend. We can chat about that in January, perhaps.

Zonta Club of St. Paul

Monthly Membership Meeting – November 18, 2003 Cherokee Sirloin Room, St. Paul, MN

Present: Pat Richards, Shirley Nice, Phyllis Acker, Judy Cognetta, Lauraine Torgerson, Dorothy Swanson, Virginia Krahmer, Joann Usher, Connie Nyman, Lois Nyman, Romelle Vanek Helfmann, Marj Neihart, Carole Snyder, Evelyn McDonald and Peggy St. Germain

The meeting was called to order at 6:45 p.m. The brag bag and tambourine were passed around. Jennifer was not able to make it to the meeting and someone will take her baby shower gifts to her. She is due within the week.

Minutes from the October meeting were approved as presented with no changes.

Treasurer’s report highlighted the income and expenses for the past month. Ticket sales paid and deposited through November 18th were $1,260.00, Donations of $500, and ticket payments to the Great American History Theatre were $1,910. Other income included memorials in honor of Judy Cognetta’s mother

Carol gave a report on the poinsettia sales and reported that Erma would be sending her the information for Liberty State Bank poinsettia sales. Lauraine will be coordinating the Liberty Bank Sale and needs volunteers for two hour shifts. Pick up for poinsettias will be December 12th at Evelyn’s and December 4th at Shirley’s.

Romelle and Lois updated us on the Global Event. We expect to have over 200 attendees and have about 200 silent auction items. Romelle, Peggy, Connie and Joann will be putting together the name tags and tickets Thursday night. Set up is 1 p.m. on Friday.

Peggy and Judy (as service committee) presented the holiday basket idea to the members. Last year we brought fruit and goodies to the December meeting and supplemented those items with purchases and gave holiday gift bags to the Women’s and Children’s Recovery Center residents. They are not one of our grantee organizations this year. Peggy gave a brief summary of the Club 100 mission and suggested that we give them gift baskets this year. Motion made, seconded and passed.

Our guest next month is Susan Anderson from Club 100. We will arrange a time to put the bags together and get them to the Club 100 offices.

Meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
