Each year F/WM would recommend the amount of support and how to raise the funds. This year District support is $510 and Area $180 with $2000 for the 2001-2002 International.

Service presented written suggestions on the definition of service including material from the Zonta Manual which outlines that fund raising is no longer labeled as service but as volunteer work. Thoughts were shared regarding service with and to our funded projects, creating service projects with schools, non profits, agencies, etc. Ideas for "hands on" service activities should be shared with Judy C.

Publications-Initial contact will be made with Cheri Register's publicist, The Hmong Board and Women's and Children's Recovery Center. The Women's Press and The Loft, for the purposes of trying to get the word out to Book Clubs, were contacted. The evening program will be similar to last years.

Silent Auction The committee co-chairs will meet Wed. September 19.

Just a note

Here are the results of our Zonta vote on Meeting Dates and Times. We had 119 votes cast. 18 of the members voted a 1st rank for the 4th Tuesday of each month, alternating with a hour meeting every other month; and 7 persons ranked 2nd for Saturday (no specific Saturday). 3rd rankings were scattered throughout all of the choices.

Apparently, the majority of members (18 who voted) want to keep our shedule as it is, on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:30 PM.

The membership has spoken, so we will probably have to comply by their wishes.
Most Sincerely,
Evelyn McDonald

BRING YOUR CELL PHONES

Remember that at the District Conference, we will be collecting old cell phones. These phones will be teset so they can only dial 911 and be distributed to women who live in potentially violent situations or are in shelters. So, bring your old cell phones to our September Meeting and I will take them to District with me.

NEW MEETING DATE:

Because of the date of our Global Event, the October meeting is scheduled for the 3rd Tuesday in October, October 16. Please mark your calendars. This is the final day for reservations for our event.
