Committee Reports:
Resolved: By the membership of Zonta Club of that
monies should be set aside to reimburse some
of the expenses for representation of our club at the International Convention, District/
Conference/Seminar and the Area Meeting. The following procedural rules were presented:
International Convention: The President and
the President Elect, if available, should be
selected to represent the Zonta Club of St.
Paul as the delegate and alternate,
respectively, to the International Convention.
The finance committee would recommend to
the membership to provide for a set amount
of monies to be used for the International
Convention. For the International
Convention, the Club would first pay for
registration and required convention meals
for its delegate and alternate. Any unused
money as approved by the membership could
be used to offset other convention expenses of
the delegate and alternate.
District Conference: The finance committee
would recommend to the membership to
provide a set amount of monies to be used for
the District Conference. The President and
President Elect, if available, should be
selected to represent the Zonta Club of St.
Paul as the delegate and alternate,
respectively ti the District Conference. For
the District Conference, the club would first
pay for registration of the delegate and
alternate. Any unused money as approved by
the membership could be used to offset other
conference expenses of the delegate and
alternate, including lodging, travel and meals.
Area Meeting and District Seminars: The
finance committee would recommend to the
membership to provide for a set amount of
monies to be used for the Area Meetings and
District Seminars. All members who choose to
attend the Area Meetings and District
Seminars will share equally in the Monies
designated for reimbursements of expenses.
The club would first pay for registration and
any unused money as so approved by the

other seminar or area meeting expenses. Each year F/WM would recommend the amount of support and how to raise the funds. This year District support is $510 and Area $180 with $2000 for the 2001-2002 International. Joann U. and Connie N. will attend District and have offered to make the support monies available to other members. Early registration at a lower cost ends September 14. Service presented written suggestions on the definition of service including material from the Zonta Manual which outlines that fund raising is no longer labeled as service but as volunteer work. Thoughts were shared regarding service with and to our funded projects, creating service projects with schools, non profits, agencies, etc. Ideas for "hands on" service activities should be shared with Judy C.

November Global Holiday Event The Global Holiday Event committee met on September 5. All committee chairs have plans well underway. The highlights of the meeting are as follows: Decorations - The theme will be fall colors and celebrating 75 yrs of service for women. Evelyn will make a 75th anniversary banner. The centerpieces will be mums from Linders. Publications-Initial contact will be made with Cheri Register's publicist, The Hmong Board and Women's and Children's Recovery Center. The Women's Press and The Loft, for the purposes of trying to get the word out to Book Clubs, were contacted. The evening program will be similar to last years. Tickets and Reservations We have only received 11 reservations. We need to sell those tickets and get the reservations and money into Connie ASAP Silent Auction The committee co-chairs will meet Wed. September 19. Just a note Here are the results of our Zonta vote on Meeting Dates and Times. We had 119 votes cast. 18 of the members voted a 1st rank for the 4th Tuesday of each month, alternating with a hour meeting every other month; and 7 persons ranked 2nd for Saturday (no specific Saturday). 3rd rankings were scattered throughout all of the choices. Apparently, the majority of members (18 who voted) want to keep our shedule as it is, on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:30 PM.
The membership has spoken, so we will
probably have to comply by their wishes.
BRING YOUR CELL PHONES Remember that at the District Conference, we will be collecting old cell phones. These phones will be teset so they can only dial 911 and be distributed to women who live in potentially violent situations or are in shelters. So, bring your old cell phones to our September Meeting and I will take them to District with me. NEW MEETING DATE: Because of the date of our Global Event, the October meeting is scheduled for the 3rd Tuesday in October, October 16. Please mark your calendars. This is the final day for reservations for our event.
